Selena Ortega-Chiolero, Foundation Board of Director

Selena Ortega-Chiolero is an Indigenous cultural heritage professional with seven years of experience as the Museum Specialist for Nay’dini’aa Na’ Kayax (Chickaloon Native Village), a federally recognized Ahtna Dene Tribe in Southcentral Alaska. In this role, she supports the Tribe in the areas of collections stewardship, cultural site preservation, cultural tourism, and repatriation. Selena holds an M.A. in Cultural Administration from the Institute of American Indian Arts. With extensive expertise in museum and cultural archives administration, development, curation, collections management, exhibitions, and repatriation, spanning over two decades, she is committed to reshaping the understanding and practices surrounding cultural heritage ownership, management, and access within the museum and archival fields. Her work aims to honor and acknowledge Indigenous identity, lifeways, and systems of knowledge.
