The SAA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, chartered in 2011, with a mission to support and enhance the work and welfare of the archival community in all its diversity through research grants, scholarships, and recognition of excellence in the profession. The Foundation’s core work is to grow a reserve of funds to support increasingly substantial efforts to improve the archives profession. The Foundation Board, composed of sixteen Board members supported by SAA staff, believes strongly that the work of the Foundation benefits all of us in the archival community, and they work continuously to expand its capacity.

The Board's Nominating Committee reviews applications and makes recommendations to the Board, which then puts forward nominations for election by the SAA Council.
