Vice-Chair/Chair Elect

Jeremy Linden
Jeremy Linden has been the principal/owner of Linden Preservation Services, Inc., since 2017.  He is an active educator and consultant, and works closely with colleagues in libraries, archives, and museums on issues of material preservation, mechanical system performance, energy-savings, and sustainability. He was previously the senior preservation environment specialist at the Image Permanence Institute from 2010-2017. Jeremy earned an MLS in Information Studies and an MA in History from the University of Maryland, and a BA in History from Vassar College.  Formerly a certified archivist and HVAC professional, Jeremy has more than 20 years of experience working in the cultural heritage field.

STATEMENT: I've long appreciated the work of the Preservation Section and the efforts it makes to promote the preservation of archival materials, from the promotion of Preservation Week to the archives field to more recent activities such as the support of the NDRFA, and I'm excited at the opportunity to join the Steering Committee and work with colleagues to help guide and enhance these efforts moving forward. The practice of preservation is an ever-evolving field in the face of changing technologies, updated science, and increased awareness of sustainability and other factors, and I'll make my best effort to help the Section bring this information to the profession as a whole."

Member-At-Large

Becky Geller
Before joining Preservation Services at NEDCC as a preservation specialist earlier in 2018, I held positions in Reference Services and the Western History & Genealogy Departments at the Denver Public Library. My interests include information literacy, intellectual freedom, and balancing preservation and access. I am a Certified Archivist and hold an MLS from Emporia State University, and have years of customer service experience that have prepared me to work well with others, understanding that every situation is unique and giving each person the opportunity to be heard.

STATEMENT: Please accept my self-nomination for SAA Preservation Section Member-At-Large. With nearly a decade of experience working with and caring for manuscript and archives collections at a public library, and my long held interest in preservation and care of cultural collections, I believe would be able to serve the Preservation Section well. I am hopeful to meet others in our preservation community and to better understand the successes and opportunities for us in the field.

Elizabeth Shepard
Elizabeth Shepard has been the associate archivist at Medical Center Archives of NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell since 2001. She received a MLS with archival administration/preservation focus from SUNY Albany in 1993. Other SAA committees she has previously served include Preservation Awards Committee and Member-At-Large on the STHC Steering Committee. She has been active in the Mid Atlantic Regional Archives Conference NJ Caucus CAPES program (a preservation assessment survey grant program) for twenty years. This year she published a peer review web publication on “Compiling a Disaster Plan for Archival Collections” for MARAC.

STATEMENT: I am delighted to run as a Member-At-Large for the Preservation Section Steering Committee. Preservation has been a lifelong passion. Preserving our history found in our artifacts and documents is one of the most important things we can do as archivists. My interest in disaster planning will be an asset to the section current activities supporting the NDRF. I look forward to working with the steering committee on promoting preservation activities and topics at SAA and the archival field as a whole.
