The following candidate is running for the Vice Chair/Chair-Elect position:
Peter Botticelli I wish to self-nominate for the Vice Chair/Chair-Elect position on the Steering Committee. I have served as chair of the Program Committee since 2023, and with this appointment ending, I am very interested in staying on the Steering Committee. I am currently an Associate Professor at the Simmons University School of Library and Information Science (SLIS), where I teach in the Archives Management concentration and I direct the Cultural Heritage Informatics concentration. I have a Ph.D. in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Masters in Archives and Records Management from the University of Michigan. At Simmons, a main goal of mine has been to expand coursework related to all aspects of cultural heritage preservation, which makes it vitally important to stay connected to the professional community as they address a changing preservation landscape.
The following candidates are running for the section steering committee Member-At-Large:
Palash Bosgang I am currently the Digital Preservation Manager at Bard College’s Stevenson Library—Archives & Special Collections. In this role, I serve as the site administrator for our Institutional Repository, which houses the digital component of our primary manuscript collection, including Senior Theses, as well as various archival and other departmental digital collections. I also oversee the preservation of our stored digital archival content, including images, audio, and documents. Beyond Bard, I chair the Digital Advisory Committee of our state’s regional library council. Through this position, I helped establish a Digital Preservation Special Interest Group that convenes regularly to exchange best practices and explore useful tools and workflows. While I haven’t previously volunteered with SAA, I will be presenting a poster at this year’s ARCHIVES*RECORDS Conference titled “Making Analog AV Collections Count in the Digital Age—Mapping a Preservation Initiative at Bard College Archives.” My background and focus have primarily been on the digital aspects of preservation, and I’ve benefited greatly from my involvement with our regional council and truly enjoy collaborating with other preservation professionals. The SAA has also played a vital role in my professional development—I’ve completed both the DAS and A&D certificate programs and am preparing to recertify in both by the end of June. I would be happy to support the SAA further and become more involved!
