Join the Preservation Section Leadership! Call for Vice-Chair/Chair Elect & Member-At-Large

It's that time of year again: SAA election season! Since we recently wrapped up a special election, this is your second opportunity this year to stand for section leadership. If you would like to get more involved with SAA and expand your leadership experience, this is your chance!

We are seeking candidates for two positions:

• Vice-Chair/Chair Elect 
• Member-At-Large 

If you are interested in nominating yourself, or would like to nominate someone else, please send the name and a 4 or 5 sentence statement of interest/professional bio to Kim Hoffman (khoffman@hamilton.edu) by Friday, May 31st. 

The work: Section projects include planning programming for the annual meeting, designing fundraisers benefiting the National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives, fun outreach projects like the Agents of Deterioration bookmarks, and outreach via our social media accounts.

The Steering Committee meets by Zoom once a month, with other business conducted by email. Attendance at the annual meeting is not required. 

Members-At-Large - Advise and support the work of the section as a member of the Steering Committee. Serve on standing committees, as appropriate.

Vice-Chair/Chair Elect - For one year you will serve as the Vice-Chair; the following year you will serve as the Chair; and your final year on the Committee you will serve as Past-Chair.

As Vice-Chair, you will 

• Assist the Chair in carrying out the work of the section.
• Prepare minutes of the section business meeting and steering committee meetings

As Chair, you will:

• Appoint committee chairs, and appoint committee members in consultation with the committee chairs.
• Lead monthly Steering Committee meetings
• Preside over the section business meeting at the SAA Annual Meeting.
• Serve on the Preservation Awards Subcommittee of the Society of American Archivists Awards Committee.

As Past Chair, you will:

• Lead the Nomination process for the Steering Committee leadership
