The National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives is Looking for your Support
The Society of American Archivists’ Preservation Section will be kicking off a virtual fundraiser for the National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives (NDRFA) during Preservation Week 2021!
The NDRFA provides grants that support the recovery of archival collections from major disasters, regardless of region or repository type. The hurricane seasons of 2017 and 2018 were particularly hard on repositories in the Carribean and the south of the US. As a result, the funds are low.
Every year since 2015, the SAA Preservation Section has supported the NDRFA, raising between $1,000 and $2,500 at an annual Silent Auction during the Annual Meeting. Since an in-person silent auction has not been possible in 2020, the Section is moving to a virtual event.
To enable the NDRFA to continue to provide recovery assistance to organizations most in need, we need your help. Donations can be made via the SAA Donation page. As our way of saying “Thank You”, donations of $25 dollars or more throughout the month of May will receive a limited edition pin, and donations of $50 or more will receive a set of three pins. Orders will be placed at the close of the fundraiser and all pins will be delivered in time for the SAA Virtual Annual Meeting in August.
The NDRFA has been made possible for over a decade due to the generous gifts of this archival community. Thank you for your giving spirit and continued support of this important fund!
