MAC 2020 Business Archives Preconference: Call for Presenters & Videos

by Dave J. Moore, Heritage & Brand Asset Manager, Carhartt

Hey Midwest business archivists!

We’re excited to announce we’ll be reprising the Business Archives Preconference at this year’s Midwest Archives Conference (MAC) Annual Meeting. We were at capacity last year in Detroit and we hope to do it again! The preconference will take place from May 6 in Des Moines, Iowa. Preliminary information on the MAC Annual Meeting is available here: https://www.midwestarchives.org/2020-annual-meeting.

We have the initial topics set and are looking for additional speakers/panelists to share their knowledge and experiences. This will be a full-day event dealing with the following topics:

  • AM – Building a business case and getting buy-in with your broader organization.… How do you sustain a corporate archives program or support a new initiative? How do you develop your strategy and align your goals with the organization? How do you establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)?
  • PM – Once you have buy-in, now you need to implement your strategies. How do you engage with different audiences? How do you put the archives on display (e.g. exhibits, museums, heritage spaces)? How do you incorporate storytelling?

We’re also looking to feature business archives-related videos throughout the program. Even if you’re not able to attend the meeting, we’d love to share your video and a short statement with attendees!

If you’re interested in being a speaker/panelist on either (or both) of the topics above, or would like to submit a video, please indicate your interest here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd1z15bl9EgomHWf3hjcf8guk6hSK6fxivmcF4sOb3pjJnQjQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

Please respond by February 14, 2020.

For any questions or video submissions, please reach out to Jennifer Johnson (jennifer_i_johnson@cargill.com), Hathaway Hester (hathawayhester@gmail.com), or Stephanie Giordano (stephanie.giordano@rotary.org). We hope to see you in Des Moines!
