After receiving an overwhelming response to this year’s call for volunteers, SAA Vice President/President-Elect Dr. Meredith Evans is pleased to announce the following appointments to SAA groups. With assistance from the 2018 Appointments Committee and consultation with appointed group leaders, Dr. Evans completed the nearly 100 appointments in May.

July 9, 2018—The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Rare Books and Manuscripts Section (RBMS) and the Society of American Archivists (SAA) have developed a new standard, Guidelines for Primary Source Literacy.
July 5, 2018—In a June 27 blog post by Archivist of the United States David Ferriero, the National Archives and Records Administration provided an update on the status of its review of the proposed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) records schedule for records related to detainees held in ICE detention facilities. Ferriero notes:

The Society of American Archivists Foundation has recently awarded two more disaster recovery grants to institutions recovering from Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
June 20, 2018—The SAA Foundation has awarded more than $31,000 in funding for eight 2018-2019 grant projects from its Strategic Growth Fund. The SAAF provides grant funding for projects that meet the mission and goals of the SAA Foundation and the strategic planning priorities of the Society of American Archivists.
