Election Results

MDOR co-chairs are elected for a term of 1 year, not to exceed 3 terms. This year 2 members are standing for election, Polina Ilieva (re-election to a 3rd term), UCSF Archivist, and new candidate Jody DeRidder, Head, Digital Services, University of Alabama Libraries.

Electronic balloting will begin in July and will be conducted by SAA staff.  Election results will be announced at the annual meeting.

Last February has been appointed the UCSF Archivist and is now managing the UCSF Archives and Special Collections. For the past five years she was a Project Archivist at UCSF in charge of the multimedia collection of the Legacy Tobacco Documents Library (LTDL) that includes more than 7,500 tobacco industry video and audio recordings. Prior to joining UCSF she was processing Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Records and leading archival web and digitization projects at the Hoover Institution Archives.  Polina is interested in fostering collaboration between tech companies and archivists and for the past two years she has been organizing “New Technologies and Archives: Exchange Forum” at the Society of California Archivists annual meetings. She holds an MA in International Relations and a Ph.D. in History from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (Russia). Polina is a graduate of the Archives Leadership Institute (class of 2011).


Jody DeRidder

Jody DeRidder is Head of Digital Services at the University of Alabama, where she has developed a production-oriented digitization team (and helped develop a new online delivery system) for Hoole Special Collections Library.  Before that, she modified and supported digital libraries for the University of Tennessee Special Collections.  In Fall of 2011, Jody was among the 24 people from across the country selected to attend the inaugural Digital Preservation Outreach Education Train-the-Trainer workshop at the Library of Congress.  Since then, she has led webinars and workshops, teaching basic digital preservation in the Southeast and beyond. Jody has an MS in both Computer Science and Information Science, and she enjoys developing infrastructure, transforming metadata, improving workflows, and experimenting with new methods of access for improved usability.
