  1.  Business Meeting (approx. 20 minutes)

    •  Welcome and Steering Committee introductions

    •  MDOS Updates

      •  Section election in progress!

      •  Steering Committee transitions 

    • Re-Envisioning MDOS: Focus group report and next steps (Jessica Serrao) 

    •  SAA Council updates (Dominique Luster)

  2.  Annual Meeting Program (approx. 70 minutes)

    •  Introductions to three discussion topics (15 minutes)

      •  Each topic will be briefly introduced by an MDOS member 

    •  Small group breakout sessions with Jamboards (30 minutes)

      •  Breakout session 1: Challenges with mass description of digital objects. Introduced by Paul Fuller (Notetaker: Jessica)

      •  Breakout session 2: What kind of metadata do we create about provenance? Introduced by Charissa Ercolin. (Notetaker: Alston)

      •  Breakout session 3: Metadata about potentially harmful material in digital collections. Introduced by Mariecris Gatlabayan. (Notetaker: Christy)

      •  Reconvene and recap (25 minutes)

        • We will reconvene in the main WebEx session for a recap and additional discussion.

DESCRIPTION

Following a short business meeting, we will have breakout discussion groups on three topics that members have expressed interest in during recent discussion posts and focus groups:

Challenges with mass description of digital objects
What kind of metadata do we create about provenance?
Metadata about potentially harmful material in digital collections

Each topic will be briefly introduced by an MDOS member before we split up into breakout rooms. Discussion will not be recorded.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect with colleagues who are also thinking about these topics!

The business meeting and the introductions to the topics will be recorded. The discussion portion will not be recorded.
