2025#01 2025 Election Call for Candidates

 

The Diverse Sexuality and Gender Section (DSGS) Steering Committee is seeking nominations for three openings. Please consider nominating yourself or a colleague for one of these positions. 

  • The Junior Co-Chair/Chair-Elect is a two-year term, serving the first year as Junior Chair and the second year as Senior Chair. The Chair-Elect assists the Chair in conducting section business. In the absence of the Chair, the Chair-Elect assumes the duties of Chair. The Chair-Elect becomes the Chair of the section in the second year of the term. The Chair presides over section meetings. With the advice and assistance of the Steering Committee, the Chair directs section activities, appoints liaisons, and submits a final annual section report to SAA Council following the end of their term as Chair. Both the Senior and Junior Chairs serve on the editorial team for the section blog, Archives In Rainbow. The Chair remains on the steering committee for a third year as Immediate Past Senior Co-chair, but does not lead the committee. (1 opening) .

  • The Social Media/Web Liaison(s) shall manage the DSGS microsite and maintain the social media presence of DSGS via assorted platforms (1 opening).

  • The Programming Coordinator organizes and facilitates online and / or in-person events in coordination with DSGS Steering Committee members as needed.

In the 2025-2026 year, the DSGS wiill continue to build upon collaborations with other sections and subcommittees and develop a variety of activities and other online forums for DSG Archives and Archivists-focused conversations. We will also continue to develop our blog, Archives In Rainbow, and Facebook page, which are available on the SAA website. The section meets when required in addition to the annual meeting over the summer. Please feel free to contact any member of the Steering Committee with questions about the activities of the Section and the Steering Committee.


Interested candidates should submit their Candidate Statement to DSGS Co-chair Jordi Padilla-Delgado (jpadilla@lloret.cat) no later than Friday, May 23rd. 

The Candidate Statement should include the following:

  • Candidate Name

  • Job Title and Institution

  • Headshot (optional)

  • Brief Bio (1 paragraph)

  • Statement of Interest (1 paragraph) describing your interest in serving on the Steering Committee
