Approval of the November 15 & 20, 2024 Meeting Minutes

Blog: ‘Meet the Committee’ member posts; new content Jan, Mar & May
- Discussion: 2 per week, please send a bio/pic. Content can be added in January or February and post items every other month. We don’t need to have mutually exclusive items for our spaces—theCoffee Chat could also echo blog posts. Heather suggested Funding/Grant-funding as a topic. Charmaine was curious if we would invite others (outside of committee) to write for the Blog.
Coffee Chats: Late April before Section Meeting (July); Q & A w/speaker
- Discussion: Erinn shared that Heather suggested on Wednesday possibly Funding/Grant-funding as a topic—maybe a roundtable discussion of people who have had successes, and what challenges they faced within the grant cycle; i.e. Federal funding vs. State funding guidelines.
- Also Public Library programming around Archival and Special Collections could be a good topic to tap into. Maybe we could survey our members to give us feedback about what kind of support or topics they need/want. Charmaine echoed the need for Public Library programming assistance.
- Catherine mentioned maybe having a roundtable about DAS and CA certifications and the value of getting these in the long run. Jill mentioned she has both certifications and discussed that it’s a nice resume bumper but hasn’t seen much of a need for it. Some positions require at least the CA.
- Late April could be a good time to have our first Coffee Chat—do we want two or one and the Section Meeting?
- Aimai suggested the Blog posts could be recaps of the Coffee Chat events.
- Everyone decided that two Coffee Chats would be best. Decided on early March, and May, followed by the July Section Meeting.
- Should we send a survey out? Maybe invite someone to talk about one of the topics for the Section Meeting; maybe partner with another Section.
- Catherine volunteered to run the Coffee Chat on Certifications—what technology should we use (WebEX, Zoom, etc.)? Jill volunteered to do a recap Blog post.
Microsite updates:
- Discussion: Original communication from SAA was no funding for WordPress site, directive is to just use SAA Connect. However, at the 12/18 meeting, section liaison Eira has said we are able to request this funding if desired. Write up a proposal in application for funds to upgrade our WordPress site to remove advertisements. If we’re asking for funds, we need to make sure to utilize the page and keep it updated with posts.
- Erinn would like to add a section on Web Archiving on the site. Please send her tools and platforms that you work with. We can link with Community Web. She went to a great session about creating Digital Collecting policies.
