Old Business 

1) Blog

      Recent posts 

                  Local History on Exhibit - 61 views 

                  Black History Month - ~100 views 

-chose to use more images to represent a wider swath of organizations 

      Upcoming posts 

      (Question about permissions for blog posts; do we ask permission? Often there aren’t contacts available, try to use images that are publicly available and cite/link to the original.) 

                  March - Women’s History Month (Joanna) 

                  Get to Know PLASC - Biz (Biz will get in next couple weeks) 

New Business 

1) Section Meeting Planning         

      PLASC has to submit ideas by March 1st via form and then they let us know when meeting date will be (by mid-March) 

Newspaper Digitization 

• Justin Clarke - Digital Initiatives Director at Indiana State Library - 1st speaker
• Lisa Gregory - Digital North Carolina - 2nd speaker
• Joanna to reach out to NEDCC’s Taje Salal (Sp?) on physical preservation of newspapers?

      15-20 minute blocks (speakers), 5-10 minutes for Laura, then 10-15 minutes for Q&A

• Newspaper Project Template spreadsheet - keep contributing through the next few months to highlight at the Section Meeting
• Biz creating a resource for newspaper digitization (Michigan-specific resources but could be generally applicable); could be part of a package of resources to add to the microsite and announce at the Section Meeting.
• Call for sharing resources at the section meeting?
• Goaal for upping the attendance from previous years’ meetings. Some sort of evidence that people participated/attended in the meeting for performance review? Approach SAA about getting access to the section recording and provide access to it. 
• Create a digital flier for the event to raise awareness. Cross-posting with other sections and state library listservs. Any limitations on the number of people that can be in the Zoom call?  

 2) Other new business? 

      Started discussion of when and how to recruit new members for the section and the committee?

• Laura and Matt are rotating off after this year. 
• Laura will consult documentation - call for nominations May 1st; 
• Recruit Heidi Butler (CADL)? 
• Put recruitment ideas on the next agenda.
