Meeting began at 1:01pm PST

Present: Heather Lanctot, Dylan Gaffney, Laura Carroll, Johanna Russ, Joanna Kolosov, Susan Keane, Matthew Peek, Aida Cuevas

Introductions of members, their backgrounds and roles for new guests and possible candidates. Introductions by Joanna Kolosov, Susan Keane. 

Approve May 18, 2022 meeting minutes. Motion to approve by Matthew. Laura seconded. Approved unanimously.

Updates

Chair, Heather Lanctot

• Discussion of PLASC Committee 2022/2023 - Jo, Heather and Dylan will discuss via email.

• Section Meeting July 20th 11am-12:30pm PST

  • Final Descriptions from speakers - announcement on SAA Connect. Speaker info needed for meeting listing. 

  • Publicizing - Last year we created a flyer, put it on listserv. It is proposed that we create a graphic with description of the section and names of presenters, and distribute it through various listservs. We can send it out approximately 3 weeks before the meeting and then again 1 week before. We will also publicize via twitter from the blog entry. 

  • Practice with presenters for technology’s sake. Heather will email presenters and coordinate a time. 

  • We need to join 10-15 minutes early

  • Hosted by SAA. We are responsible for initiating recording. 

  • Members can summarize their general work over the past year at the beginning.

  • Request from Wilton CT public library, which is acquiring a David Brubeck Collection, seeking someone who will speak to the Director about management of materials and other possible issues around acquisition.

Newsletter/Blog - Laura

• New Assignments for content from PLASC Committee members. Laura will create a “meet the member” profile, Heather will write a piece summarizing the meeting, and Dylan will contribute an article on collaborations. 

Resources page on Microsite - Matthew & All

• Looks really good. Dramatically improved layout, easy to access all pages and navigate, and pages are well balanced. We can do a blog post and twitter post to promote. One Society of Georgia Research addition to add to Policies and Procedures page. Will continue to solicit more ideas from members. 

Twitter - Dylan

• Questions for polls - nearing completion of 2022 ideas list. Will need to revisit at August meeting to decide where to go with new board, reassess the approach and future directions.

• Microsite resources to highlight - address how to use social media to plug blog and vice-versa. 

SAA Section Meeting Speakers/Format - Heather

• Update on submissions - 3 speakers should be sufficient. Will promote via blog and twitter to see if we can exceed the 20+ folks who came last week.
