Approve August 18, 2021 meeting minutes. Moved and approved.

Updates

Chair, Heather Lanctot  - Annual Reports submitted. Use the DEI Work Plan to help shape our goals. Members should review and give feedback where appropriate.

Vice Chair, Laura Carroll - The newsletter may be the primary form of outreach, along with social media. Can we establish a central place to share resources, toolkits and info on what is available on microsites? Post on social media, include in newsletter? Add a section on microsite? How is it organized and how much work do devote to this. Could we attach PDFs in place of links which could be broken over time.

Website, Johanna Russ

Secretary & Social Media Coordinator, Dylan Gaffney - Can each member take on the job of finding interesting accounts in their area to follow to give us a wider range of institutions/content to amplify. Should we examine other social media options?.

SAA Annual Report 2020/2021 - submitted.

New Business

Brainstorm Goals/Projects for next year

  • Deadline for Funding Requests March 1, 2022 (for next FY)

  • SAA Strategic Plan 2020/2022

  • Social Return on Investment - How to quantify our value? If this is a long term goal, how can we break it down into stages to work on in the next year. What are the first steps starting with research? How can we measure our outreach? What examples from other orgs or institutions can we use to guide our work? Can we all (focusing somewhat on our geographical areas) try to dig up examples and add materials to a shared folder and record when materials are added on a spreadsheet. Discussion of how much information we can get about our membership.

Newsletter - Last newsletter was Fall/Winter. Contents could include: Results of survey, a link to or summary could be included. A Summary of Annual Meeting. Link to resources. Possibly repurposing some of the posts from Twitter. Do we include categories in open call for submissions? and how can we keep it to a reasonable and readable length.

Action Items - Collect examples of libraries, archives, institutions and organizations attempting to quantify and show their value and the social return on investment.
