In attendance: Lauren Algee, Patricia Delara, Suzanne Im, Angela Stanley.

Purpose of Meeting: Work toward finalizing membership survey draft, determine  program for annual meeting.

1.  Survey 

• Steering Committee members in attendance reviewed and refined draft survey using:

  • The 2013 PLASC membership survey

  • OCLC's The State of Digitization in US Public and State Libraries

  • Educopia's Self-Identified Library, Archives, and Museum Professional Development Needs 2016 Edition

• Discussion of survey time-frame: possibly early March to the end of March to receive survey responses. The goal is to have preliminary survey results ready to present at the 2018 SAA annual section meeting.

• Action Item: Translate current draft into survey format for final review.

• Action Item: Patricia Delara will write up a draft introductory description for the survey by March 1.

• Action Item: Lauren Algee will reach out to Amy and inquire about what support SAA provide can provide in administering the survey, or whether PLASC should seek out a free platform. 

2. Annual Section meeting 

• Algee idea: Lightning talks from public library archives about community-driven archives projects.

• Steering Committee needs to submit program proposal survey to SAA about program idea by March 1, 2018.

• Action item: Lauren Algee will draft session proposal and share with Steering Committee by 2/23. She will also inquire with Felicia Owens about the list of program speakers.

3. PLASC Microsite

• Suzanne will remove the link to Zee Maps from the microsite, which lacks useful information about member institutions, not to mention an invasion of member privacy

  • The link to the resource (https://www.zeemaps.com/view?group=1174149&x=-93.740095&y=40.287197&z=14) will be archived in the Steering Committee's administrative documents folder.
