Candidates for 2017-2019 Performing Arts Section Co-Chair

Hannah Jellen

Hannah Jellen is the Interim Manuscripts Curator at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library (ALPLM) in Springfield, Illinois. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) where she received her BM in Musicology and her MSLIS. She is returning to UIUC in August of 2017 to pursue an MM in Musicology where she will study American popular and folk music. Prior to her position at ALPLM, Hannah worked at the Sousa Archives and Center for American Music from 2011 to 2016 and the University of Illinois Music and Performing Arts Library from 2015 to 2016. Her position at ALPLM has bolstered her love for Illinois history and the American Civil War. At ALPLM, Hannah has headed the library-wide adoption of Archon, a task that has included migrating finding aids and developing and managing a remote internship. Hannah presented a graduate student poster at Society of American Archivists (SAA) in 2016, and in March, she organized a music panel for the upcoming Conference on Illinois History, where she will deliver a paper on Southern Illinois folksong and the Civil War. Hannah has been a member of SAA and the Performing Arts Section since 2015, and is eager to become more involved in the organization.

Pamela Nye

Pamela Nye is the Director of Archives at The Westminster Schools, an independent K-12 school in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to that, she worked at the Georgia Archives for 10 years before becoming a consultant for various archival grant projects in the Atlanta area. She has a B.A. in International Studies from Marlboro College and the School for International Training in Vermont, as well as an MLS from Clark Atlanta University. In 2005 she became a Certified Archivist, and in 2013 earned the DAS certificate from SAA. She joined PAR when she started work at Westminster, as there is a thriving performing arts department at the school, including band, orchestra, theater, and dance. Student-run groups include the Jazz Ensemble as well as the Men's Acapella Chorus and the Women's Acapella Chorus. The collection includes posters, programs, as well as photographs and videos of performances and trips. Learning more about the performing arts community has been a wonderful education, as she is also a performing arts parent/volunteer, with three girls in high school chorus, high school marching band, and an elementary school Orff Ensemble, respectively.
