Jenna Stout
Saint Louis Art Museum
Jenna Stout, C.A., is the Museum Archivist for the Saint Louis Art Museum, where she manages institutional records and special collections. Stout is involved in all aspects of archival work for her institution. She previously processed archival collections at the Montgomery County Archives, Biltmore Estate, and UNC-Greensboro. She holds a M.A. in American History – Cherokee Concentration from Western Carolina University, a M.L.I.S. from UNC-Greensboro, and a Ph.D. in Public History from Middle Tennessee State University. Prior to joining the Saint Louis Art Museum, Stout worked in historic interpretation and preservation at cultural institutions throughout the Southeast. She is currently pursuing the Certified Records Manager designation.
As a museum archivist, I strive to utilize the storied past to engage visitors and build community. I strongly believe in democratizing access to archival materials and collaborating in outreach efforts. I currently serve on the Professional Development Committee for the Association of St. Louis Area Archivists and participate in the Midwest Archives Conference. Since I work as a lone arranger, I especially understand the importance of connecting with archivist colleagues beyond institutional walls. The Museum Archives Section has provided invaluable resources to guide my development as an emerging museum archives professional. I would be honored for the opportunity to serve the Museum Archives Section as Vice-Chair / Chair-Elect.

Dia Art Foundation
I am currently the Archivist for Dia Art Foundation, where I have had the distinct pleasure of creating a new archive program for the institution. I continue to serve as the lone arranger for the Dia Archives. My various duties include working with both physical and digital materials, supporting research for various initiatives, and working on capturing the history of Dia through publications, oral histories, and public programming initiatives. Previously, I held the position of archivist processing various collections for the New Museum of Contemporary Art, and before that, I held a position processing government records for the Westchester County Archives in New York; I received my MLIS from Drexel University with a concentration in Digital Libraries in 2013. Before becoming an archivist, I worked for Museums for over ten plus years in various roles, including administration and visitor services.
I am excited to participate in and provide service to the museum archives community as a first-time steering committee member. Over the last year, I have provided research support for many blog postings for the Dia blog, copy editing support and fact-checking texts for press articles and contributed to publications related to Dia history. As a contributor to the Museum Archives Newsletter in the Winter 2020 issue, I wrote about the work I had accomplished for Dia and introduced our new archive to the community. I am excited to share this positive energy, interact with other Archivists, and contribute my interest in the museum archives as the Newsletter Editor for the Museum Archives section.
