Statement of interest:
As a candidate for Vice Chair, I am very interested in supporting my colleagues and assisting them in achieving their education/professional development goals regarding archival management issues, especially those archivists at smaller institutions who do not always have the resources or organizational support they may need. Archivists face similar management issues across the board, no matter the type or size of repository we work in, but navigating these scenarios varies widely. I would work to contribute to and facilitate meaningful conversations between new and seasoned managers. I would look forward to sharing my experiences, learning from others, and sustaining this section as a forum for discussion of various topics and strategies relevant to the Archives Management community.
Secretary
Jessica Harden
Jessica Harden is the collections unit manager at the Archives of Michigan where she’s worked since 2011. Prior to becoming the collections unit manager in 2022, she worked as a reference archivist and state government records archivist. Jessica holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree with a graduate certificate in archival administration from Wayne State University and was a member of the 2022 Archives Leadership Institute cohort.
I am excited to continue serving on the Archives Management Section steering committee. Archives managers face unique challenges and I would love to help provide opportunities for communication, resource sharing and collaboration across the profession. My interests as a steering committee member would be helping to plan virtual events to facilitate connection between section members as well as looking at ways to expand the resources available on the section website.

Statement
I have enjoyed being a member of the Archives Management Section for several years and really enjoy attending the Ask a Manager chats. Seeing other managers and learning how they have handled problems in their archive has been incredibly helpful in helping me solve my own problems. Being a manager can be quite difficult. Handling various HR issues, conflict between associates, or helping others to achieve their potential can be a daunting task if you are new to management. This section is a wonderful place to get some advice and feedback if you are having problems, and I would love to help the section continue to offer programs to help others continue to grow.

Statement of Interest:
Over the course of my career I’ve had the opportunity to hold positions at various archival institutions to include community, corporate, university, and municipal archives. Each experience resulted in resource building that I’ve shared with colleagues and professional mentors. As a certified archivist, best practices and an ever growing knowledge of project management skills have provided me with the support needed to manage collections, staff, student assistants, and volunteers. In the process of serving others there is always an opportunity to learn and connect. Having served on the SAA Loan Arrangers Steering Committee I was able to support collection managers who encountered small budgets, minimal staff support, and advocacy for departmental needs. I am interested in serving on the Archives Management Steering Committee to provide comparable support to collection managers based on my experience and to provide an aspect of service that has been the most rewarding in my archival practice.
