Carol Kussmann

Carol Kussmann is a Digital Preservation Analyst for the University of Minnesota Libraries—where she works to address the digital preservation needs of the University Libraries, Archives and Special Collections—and the Minnesota Digital Library. As co-chair of the Electronic Records Task Force, she focuses on addressing the ingest, processing, and access of electronic records.

She received her Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign while working as the Assistant Registrar at the Spurlock Museum on campus. Carol spent five years with the Minnesota State Archives as part of the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP), where she focused on government records and worked with the State Archives to develop an electronic records program.

Carol serves on the steering committee of the Society of American Archivists Electronic Records Section. She is also involved with the Best Practices, Tools, and Resources Subcommittee of the Council of State Archivists and helped to implement the Program for Electronic Records Training, Tools, and Standards web portal. As a Digital Preservation Outreach and Education (DPOE, a program of the Library of Congress) trainer, Carol works with Minitex to provide digital preservation training in the Midwest region.
