Call for volunteers to join SAA's Technical Subcommittee on Encoded Archival Standards (TS-EAS)

Dear members of the Encoded Archival Standards community,

TS EAS is seeking to fill two international and two SAA based vacancies in TS EAS during the fall of 2021. We seek new members through open calls and will evaluate all applications. There might be an on-line call performed after we have gone through the applications.

TS EAS meets four times a year (committee members must attend at least two of these) and also has smaller teams working with specific tasks like the maintenance of the EAC-CPF and EAD standards, outreach activities, and more. We expect all members to be able to devote time to participate in the work of TS EAS. We try to meet in person once a year, during the SAA Annual Meeting, and would appreciate it if you as a member of the TS EAS can be there.

We encourage applications from all parts of the archival community. This year, we are especially interested in anyone who has experience describing archival functions and activities. Familiarity with XML-related technologies is always a plus, but never a requirement.

The time required to participate in TS-EAS can vary considerably, but in general you should expect to set aside an average of two hours per week and to participate in at least two of four committee-wide meetings each year. For more information, we encourage you to read our committee handbook, specifically the page on Meeting Policies and Procedures:

We invite you to send your application through one of the the following two webforms:

To volunteer, please fill out one of the two self-nomination forms by Wednesday, 15 December 2021.

More information about volunteering is found at and

Best regards,

Karin Bredenberg and Mark Custer
