The Technical Subcommittee for Encoded Archival Standards (TS-EAS) is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of EAD and EAC-CPF as well as the development of future companion standards, such as Encoded Archival Context for Functions.
We are seeking self-nominations from the international community to join TS-EAS. Anyone outside of the United States who has experience working with or implementing archival encoding standards is encouraged to apply as an international member.
Next year, the committee will be focused on the following major areas of work:
To volunteer to assist us with these projects, please fill out the TS-EAS international member self-nomination form by December 15, 2021. Appointments will be made for three-year terms beginning in August 2022.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via email: appointments@archivists.org
Time Commitment
The time required to participate in TS-EAS can vary considerably, but in general you should expect to set aside an average of two hours per week and to participate in at least two of four committee-wide meetings each year. For more information, we encourage you to read our committee handbook, specifically the page on Meeting Policies and Procedures: https://github.com/SAA-SDT/TS-EAS-subteam-notes/wiki/Meeting-Policies-and-Procedures
About the Appointments Process
The first step is to fill out the self-nomination form before the deadline! Next, the TS-EAS co-chairs will review all of the submissions and make the recommendations to SAA’s Appointments Committee based upon your application and the current needs of the committee. The final appointments are then made by the Vice President/President-Elect of SAA. You will be notified of a decision by May 2022. If you are selected and accept your appointment, then you will officially join TS-EAS in August 2022.
