Meet the 2026 Candidates:

Steven B. Wilson, Archives and Records Manager, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories

Nicholas Webb, Archivist, New York Medical College
Bio: Nicholas Webb is the College Archivist and curator of historical collections at the Phillip Capozzi, M.D. Library of New York Medical College, located in Westchester County, New York. Since 2010, when he joined Manhattan's Mount Sinai Health System as Assistant Archivist, he has been a solo or small shop archivist at medical institutions in the New York City area. In addition to SAA, he is an active member of MARAC, LAMPHHS (Librarians, Archivists & Museum Professionals in the History of the Health Sciences), and the Medical Archivists of New York.
Candidate Statement: As a solo archivist in a nontraditional setting, dealing every day with the challenges many of us share, I get a lot out of my participation of the Solo Archivists Section. As Events Coordinator, I would like to build on the success of the section's recent informal discussion session by making this a regularly scheduled activity, and will also seek out opportunities for more formal education and learning sessions about issues we face, particularly around electronic records. The work of a solo archivist can be overwhelming, so finding ways to build networks of support and community with our fellow section members is essential!

Shannon Broden, Board Member and Archivist, New Media Arts, Inc.
Bio: Shannon Broden has a Masters in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University as well as a Masters in Communication from California State University, Fullerton. She has a vested interest in making sure creative digital works are preserved so that future creators and historians can learn from them. Broden has a keen interest in emerging technology, in particular the relation of libraries and archives to it. She also is concerned about the issues involving the conversion of archives so that they may be digitally searched with metadata while not compromising the original collection.
Candidate Statement: In terms of understanding the needs of the Solo Archivists membership, Broden is currently partnered with a small nonprofit. This helps her understand the needs of archives with limited support staff. She also enjoys challenges and will be up to taking on any task that needs handling as a Member-at-Large.
