Statement
I joined the Research Libraries Roundtable because of its track record as a venue for examining important, emerging professional issues in greater depth (through what I find to be some of the most engaging roundtable meetings at SAA), as well as its relationship to OCLC Research and the attention to critical issues that continues to come out of that group. I hope to use the role of Chair to continue to highlight the challenges archives confront in the rapidly changing research library environment, and to provide a forum where we support meaningful discussion with members around these key challenges.
Professional Experience
Ben Goldman is the Digital Records Archivist at Penn State University, where he is responsible for developing workflows and practices surrounding the management and preservation of born-digital holdings, and is contributing to the ongoing development of Penn State's microservice-based repository system. Prior to joining Penn State, he was the Digital Programs Archivist at the University of Wyoming's American Heritage Center, where he started the Center's first electronic records program. He was published and presented at conferences on the topic of practical approaches to working with born-digital archival collections.
Ben has a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Syracuse University, with a Certificate of Advanced Study in Digital Libraries.
