Improving Access to Collections Program
The Improving Access to Collections Program will award grants of up to $3,000 to help libraries, museums, historical societies, archival repositories, cultural organizations, town and county records offices, and colleges and universities improve their ability to provide online access to their significant archival collections. Information on the grant program is posted yearly in the fall.
Oklahoma Department of Libraries
The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) makes grants to help identify, preserve, and provide public access to records, photographs, and other materials that document American history. The grants go to state and local archives, colleges and universities, libraries, historical societies, and other nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S.
Projects and funds vary.
The Oklahoma Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) receives an annual allocation from the U.S. Department of the Interior's Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) for conduct of the National Register Programs. This special grant program is designed to encourage nomination of individual properties to the National Register increasing the number of Oklahoma's valuable archeological and historic resources that can benefit from this special designation.
Eligible projects must support the council's mission to strengthen communities by helping Oklahomans learn about the human experience, understand new perspectives, and participate knowledgeably in civic life.
