The Metadata and Digital Object Section and the Visual Materials Section will be hosting a moderated forum for discussion at this year’s virtual annual joint section meeting. We are welcoming suggestions for discussion topics via a poll that can be found here and also have provided some suggested topics that members can indicate interest in.

Sample topics include:

  • How has your creation of metadata for visual materials changed in the past few years in light of the increased awareness for the need for equitable and inclusive descriptive practices?
  • What are some of the challenges related to remote visual material metadata creation that have arisen during the pandemic, and how might these challenges change your workflows in a post-pandemic world?
  • Do you find that any of what we experienced in 2020 has affected your institution's (or your personal) approach to the materials you handle? If not, what would you like to see change?

Discussion topics will be reviewed by both VMS and MDOS section steering committees. The extended deadline for topics is 11:59 pm on July 14, 2021.

New this year! All group meetings will be listed on a new “Events” tab on SAA Connect, our platform for all group discussion lists. See the MDOS/VMS event listing here, and the full list of July meetings here.
