BAS Industry Call on Exhibitions

by Cristina Vignone, Education Chair, Business Archives Section

In order to further explore the topic of business archives and exhibitions, the BAS held an industry-wide call on the topic on April 27, 2020.

Over 70 members of the section gathered virtually for presentations by five BAS members—Elizabeth McGorty, Archivist & Records Manager at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation; Cristina Vignone, Associate Archivist & Manager of Research Services at Tiffany & Co.; Neil Dahlstrom, Manager, Corporate Archives and History at the John Deere Archives; Michael Zaidman, Sr. Corporate Archivist at JM Family Enterprises; and Katie Dishman, Corporate Archivist at Marriott International—whose exhibitions were featured in the Business Archives Quarterly (Vol. 2, No. 1).

The moderated discussion and audience Q&A that followed the presentations tackled many questions on the topic, including: marketing and archiving exhibitions; increased visibility of the corporate archive and greater interaction with the public as a result of exhibitions; the growing trend toward digital and virtual exhibitions; and the future of exhibitions in light of the pandemic. Video and audio recordings of the call, as well as a transcript, are now available on the Business Archives Quarterly website.
