Steven Kantner is the Digital Asset Coordinator at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) and is responsible for managing digitization projects at the agency since 2014. Before working in the archival field, Steven began his career as a recording engineer in 1996 and started working as a media educator in 2001, covering production processes and histories of recording, television, and film industries. In 2012, Steven's interest in history prompted him to pursue graduate studies in preservation to apply his technical skills in an archival setting.
Steven earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast/cable from the Pennsylvania State University and a master's degree in information studies from the University of Texas at Austin with specialization in audiovisual preservation and digital libraries. Steven is a member of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC), Audio Engineering Society (AES), and International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA). Steven regularly guest lectures on technical audio engineering concepts for audio preservation courses at the University of Texas School of Information.
