Marcy Flynn is a consultant specializing in collections management services for visual materials. She formed Silver Image Management in 1994 to support responsible stewardship in archives, libraries, and other collections. Most consulting projects include preparing collection assessment reports, establishing best practices, selecting standards, planning for processing and providing training to improve access and preservation. Prior to consulting, Marcy worked in prints and photographs departments at the Library of Congress (1991–1994), the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (1988–1991), and the Maryland Historical Society (1984–1988).
Marcy is currently a member of SAA’s Committee on Education (2015–2018). She served in other capacities within SAA, including as co-chair/member of the Standards Committee (2010–2011/2005–2008); liaison to Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Graphics) (2011–2013); liaison to the Association for Information and Image Management (1998–2005); member of the Annual Meeting Program Committee (2003); and chair of the Visual Materials Cataloging and Access Roundtable (1996–1997). She has a BA in American Studies from Dickinson College (Carlisle, PA) and a MA in American Civilization from George Washington University (Washington, DC).
