Deenah Shutzer

Deenah Shutzer is an educator with the Brooklyn Connections program at the Brooklyn Public Library. Prior to joining the Brooklyn Connections team in 2015, Deenah worked as a teaching artist in the Greater NYC area for a variety of programs such as the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Company, Story Pirates, and Story Shifters. In that capacity, she taught creative writing, drama and filmmaking to K-12 students in after-school and in-school residency-style programs. She also completed an AmeriCorps City Year at an elementary school in Queens, where she worked closely with one teacher in a fifth grade classroom to coordinate leading pull-out sessions with its lowest performing ELA students to improve their reading and comprehension skills. Deenah earned a BA in International Relations and Political Science in 2011 from Boston University, and spent a post-college year working at Amel Association, a non-governmental organization in Beirut, Lebanon, as a grant writer for their peace-building and women’s business development programs.
