Brad Houston is the university records archivist at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), where he coordinates records management activity and helps set records policy for over 200 campus units. Brad has given numerous presentations on born-digital records, digitization, and research data management both for end-users at UWM and for information professionals. Since 2010, he has led workflow development for and management of electronic records for the UWM Libraries, Archives Department and led the implementation of UWM's Web Archiving program since 2012.
Before starting at UWM, Brad performed archives and records management work at the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library, The University of Maryland-College Park University archives, National Geographic Society, and the Federal Executive Office of the President. Brad currently serves as co-chair of the Southeast Wisconsin Archivists Group and is a member of SAA's Education Committee. From 2011-2014, he served as chair of SAA's Records Management Roundtable and is continuing to work with the RMRT Steering Committee as immediate past chair. From 2013-2014, he was part of a Council-sponsored working group to revise and update SAA's own records retention schedule.
Brad received a BA in History from Grinnell College in 2004 and a MA in European History/MLS in Archives and Records Management from the University of Maryland-College Park in 2007.
