CHICAGO—SAA Education is initiating a pilot program to evaluate a new way to maintain your Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) certification. This program, called DAS Option B, will run from March 2025 through March 2027. The aim of this program is to assess how to best give more flexibility to DAS holders in renewing their certificate.
The DAS Certificate is valid for five years. Normally, DAS certificate holders who wish to renew their certificates must complete four SAA courses from the DAS course list during that five-year period.
A recent change has been made to the 2025 SAA election ballot. Due to unforeseen circumstances, candidate for Vice President/President-elect Melissa Gonzales has chosen to step out of the election. The Nominating Committee has now added Conor Casey to the election ballot. See the new, complete slate for the 2025 election below. All information about each candidate will be posted to the SAA website early March.
February 28, 2025—Society of American Archivists 79th President Tomaro Taylor has notified the SAA Council of her resignation from that post, effective February 21, 2025. SAA thanks Taylor for her service to the Society.
CHICAGO — Congratulations to the 37 new Digital Archives Specialists (DAS)! These archivists, who represent a variety of repositories around the country, earned their DAS Certificate from the Society of American Archivists (SAA) after completing the required coursework within twenty-four months and passing a comprehensive examination in January 2025.
