July 15, 2024—The results of SAA's 2024 election are in! The following individuals have been elected to serve:
- Derek T. Mosley (Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History) has been elected SAA Vice President/President-Elect. Mosley begins a one-year term as vice president this August and will become SAA's 80th president in 2025–2026.
- Denise Rayman (Indiana University Indianapolis) has been elected SAA Treasurer. Rayman begins a three-year term this August (2024–2027).
- Jillian Cuellar (Tulane University), Eira Tansey (Memory Rising), and Bryan Whitledge (Central Michigan University) have been elected to the SAA Council for three-year terms beginning this August (2024–2027).
- The 2024 Nominating Committee will consist of Lori Dedeyan (Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts), Sarah Patton (Nevada Historical Society), and Jessica Tai (University of California, Berkeley). As the individual who received the most votes, Tai will serve as chair of the Committee. In addition, the nominating Committee includes two third-year Council members who will be selected by the Council at its August 2024 meeting.
SAA is grateful to all of the individuals who put their names forward for the 2024 ballot, as well as to the 2024 Nominating Committee for their service: Kristal Tribbet (chair), Courtney Dean, Sarah Quigley, and Council member Jasmine Jones.
And thanks to the many members who voted in this election! We achieved a participation rate of nearly 15%.
