March 30, 2022—The results of SAA's 2022 election are in! The following individuals have been elected to serve:
- Helen Wong Smith (University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, Hamilton Library) has been elected SAA Vice President/President-Elect. She begins her one-year term this August and will become SAA's 78th president in 2023–2024.
- Krystal Appiah (University of Virginia Library), Joyce Gabiola (Lambda Archives of San Diego), and Lydia Tang (LYRASIS) have been elected to the SAA Council for three-year terms beginning this August (2022–2025).
- The 2023 Nominating Committee will consist of Louis Jones (Wayne State University), Jessica C. Neal (Center for Research Libraries), and Brittany Newberry (Georgia State University). As the individual who received the most votes, Jones will serve as chair of the Committee. In addition, the Nominating Committee includes two third-year Council members who will be selected by the Council at its May 2022 meeting.
SAA is grateful to all of the individuals who put their names forward for the 2022 ballot as well as to the 2022 Nominating Committee for their service: Angel Diaz (chair), Alison Clemens, Dave J. Moore, and Council members Eric Chin and Mario Ramirez.
And thanks to the many members who voted in this election! We achieved a participation rate of more than 20 percent.
