SAA is pleased to announce the appointment of Kara Adams as Director of Education, effective January 18, 2017. Adams will be responsible for the design, development, marketing, implementation, and evaluation of SAA’s continuing education offerings and resources for archivists and other related professionals.
Adams has been on the staff of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) since April 2013, serving first as Program Coordinator and then as Program Manager for Knowledge and Learning with a focus on online programming. Since last April she has been Senior Manager in IFT’s Divisions and Community area. Adams did the on-the-ground work to support IFT’s transition to a new learning management system in 2014. Previously she worked for the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, Lake Forest College, and the Oklahoma Community Service Commission.
Adams holds a Master of Education, Community Counseling, degree from the University of Oklahoma and a BA in Psychology and Literature from Lake Forest College. She’s also a newly minted Certified Association Executive who received the Association Forum of Chicagoland’s Forty Under 40® Award in 2016.
Adams will succeed Solveig De Sutter, who has enjoyed a lengthy career in the association management field and is retiring later this month after serving as SAA’s Director of Education for sixteen years.
Welcome aboard, Kara!
