Meeting Minutes

September 18, 2016

Present: Kelly Kietur, Rossy Mendez, Katie Rojas, Elena Colon-Marrero and Colin Post

1. Introductions

Kelly Kietur, President

Archivist in Metro Detroit area

Goals: Make annual conference more accessible to students and professionals, will inquire about the possibility of dorm space in Portland State University for the 2017 SAA Annual Conference

Rossy Mendez, Secretary

Archivist at NYC Municipal Archives

Goals: More collaboration with student groups, more mentorship opportunities between professionals and student members

Katie Rojas, Vice President

Archivist at University of Texas, San Antonio

Goals: More collaboration with other SAA sections

Elena Colón-Marrero, Social Media Chair

Processing Archivist, Computer History Museum

Goals: Work with other sections to host joint Twitter chats and other social

media events

Colin Post, Web Coordinator

PhD Student at UMC Chapel Hill

Goals: investigate ways that microsite can be used more, create more dynamic

content and post guidelines for students and new professionals.

1. Ex Officio updates-

Elena:

• Twitter Chats looking to host 1-2 chats a month and is looking for collaborations.

• Continue use of slack after conference, was heavily used at the conference but no set plan for continuation

• Need Junior Social Media Coordinator

1. Ex Officio positions to fill by November 15 (call for volunteers):

• Junior social media coordinator

• Blog coordinator

• Student blog editor

• New professional blog editor

• Web liason

4. Planning sheet- Kelly is editing, asks committee to check out areas that are of interests, continue to share ideas and feedback
