The Graduate Archival Education Subcommittee reached out to the Chair to see if a SNAP representative could attend their upcoming meeting regarding a Council discussion about supporting student chapters. Erin and Katie attended – any updates?
Focused on student membership rates and revitalizing membership post-COVID
Potential to engage more with state associations like ALA
SNAP-py Hours debrief
Aim to schedule next session in the spring after the holidays
Received positive feedback from attendees that there is interest in more events like this in the future and that the two session options worked well
Future planning:
structure calls around themes
Drive conversations with specific questions
Partner with another subcommittee to reach a wider audience (Kay will reach out to GAES)
Certificate Programs webinar: Kay, Emma and Jason met with SAA Chairs and active members who lead programming re: certificates
Will start a new email thread to identify individuals that can speak to the diversity and value of certificate programs for new professionals
Digital Archives taps into specific skills that are not generally taught in MLIS programs, so definitely could be helpful for new professionals
Course is online and has a final exam, which is different from others

SAA Career Counselor Michelle Ganz is presenting a job materials program on November 1st!

Blog/Web Team will email and send follow ups to submissions
Facilitate an open space for submissions to help folks get their work out there
Team suggested we collaborate with the America 250 Task Force. Kay is finding a contact to see if SNAP’s blog can contribute to this SAA-wide initiative in some way.
Call for nominations for other SNAP members to be included in AO closer to the winter, as the SNAP member completing the first round will be submitting theirs by December 1st.
