Secretary Candidates
Hannah Jellen
Candidate statement: My name is Hannah Jellen and I am both a student and a new professional. I have been a member of SAA for two years. I expect to graduate with my MSLIS this coming May from the University of Illinois. I was just hired for my first "real" job in October as the new Manuscripts Curator at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library. I am interested in encouraging other students and new professionals in their career development. I would like to be involved in SNAP leadership because I believe that it is an important way to strengthen the present of future leaders in the field, and ultimately to develop our archival community in inclusive and supportive ways. I am also interested in this position because I would like to become more involved in SAA as a whole, and I believe that this is an excellent way to give back to our organization and profession as a whole.
Adriana Flores
Candidate statement: Hello, my name is Adriana Flores and I would love to serve as SNAP’s new secretary. I feel I would serve the SNAP population well since I have recently experienced the transition from grad student to full-time professional. In August 2016, I graduated from Simmons College with a MLIS with a concentration in archive management. Since May 2015, I have been working full-time at Boston University as their Assistant Archivist for Acquisitions. I have spent time as a full-time student, was hired following a year-long internship at BU, learned to balance full-time work and part-time school, and am now working to grow professionally since I’m done with school. I have attended SAA multiple times but would love to become more involved and devote my time to serving the students and new professionals in our field. Please consider voting for me as SNAP’s secretary!
