Referendum to Change Standing Rules

 A referendum will be placed on this year’s ballot proposing a change to the Standing Rules. This change will allow Newsletter Committee members (1-2 persons) to be part of the Steering Committee. These members will remain appointed by the Steering Committee. Please refer to the PDF for the exact edits to the Standing Rules and vote to either accept or reject these changes.

Bio: Jennifer Langford has thirteen years of experience as an archivist in the history of the health sciences. She currently serves as Archivist and Special Collections Librarian at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where she manages manuscript collections, rare and antiquarian books, and artifacts. Previously, she was the Digital Archivist at the Waring Historical Library at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She has served in a variety of roles in professional organizations including the Society of Georgia Archivists, the South Carolina Archival Association, and the Memphis Area Library Council. She has published in the the Journal of the Medical Library Association, Medical Reference Services Quarterly, and was the reviews editor for Provenance for nine years. Her professional interests are user engagement and finding ways to demonstrate the value of archives to non-traditional users through technology, outreach, and advocacy.  

Statement of interest:  The Junior Co-Chair position provides an opportunity for me to serve the STHC archival community. The STHC Section is diverse in both its member's roles and the types of institutions represented; if elected, my goals are to address our common challenges and to promote collaboration, advocacy, and knowledge sharing.

Biography

DiAnna Hemsath joined the faculty at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s McGoogan Library as an archivist in the Special Collections and Archives Department in January of 2019. Previously she held positions as a curator and collections manager of the Kruger Collection at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and as a technical services archivist at the University of Pennsylvania Archives and Records Center. She is a member of the Midwest Archives Conference and the Society of American Archivists. She received a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Interest Statement

As a member of the steering committee, I would promote the platform of the Science, Technology and Healthcare Section through collaboration and resource sharing to further the knowledge base of the archival profession.
