2017 STHC Meeting Minutes

2017 STHC Steering Committee meeting which was held held immediately after the annual meeting.

Present:

Todd Kosmerick, Senior Chair, Polina Ilieva, Junior Chair , Eli Brown, Andrew Lippert, Elizabeth Shepard, Bethany Anderson, Kim Anderson

1. Discussion of Unsung Heroes: we need a Steering Committee member  to direct and coordinate the initiative to keep momentum going. Todd has contacted other Sections to find out if there is interest in posting on other SAA listserves messages soliciting more entries. Andrew will consider this role. 

2. Discussion of contributing an article about Unsung Heroes  to Archival Outlook with a couple of images. 

3. Consider Unsung Heroes Outreach to archival repositories at HBCUs 

4. Unsung Heroes entries on the STHC Website - Myles is no longer working on this, new content can be sent to Rebekah Kim, the new web liaison, who will upload the files. Discussion ensued of how we promote the website, Todd will dig up language and distribute it.

5. SAA has assigned the Section a new intern - Mark Coulbourne, a graduate student at the University of Maryland.  He can help Rebekah Kim with revisions to the STHC microsite.

6. Program planning 2018- STHC lightening talks are well received (ask Todd about workshop and Bethany?) [Polina or Eli should ask Bethany Anderson about more details regarding the proposed scientific archives workshop at SAA next year.]  Ask for ideas for a speaker next year in DC, NLM, Smithsonian Museum of the Medical Army or should we present on Unsung Heros and make that a session?

Who would chair the session, find a point person to assemble and find moderator, also need to involve other steering committee members
