Revisiting 2020-2021 Goals:
For the remainder of the meeting, members discussed how we can achieve our goals without adding more work and stress to ourselves and our members, especially during this time when most people are already holding most of their workday meetings via Zoom and Google Meets.
We discussed the idea of a Facebook page but that was eventually scrapped due to the pitfalls of administration and moderating such pages.
Jo mentioned a possibility that may be helpful - first, to find out what members are most concerned about at this time due to COVID closures and possible re-openings. Since we already have a Twitter page, we could create a few informal polls to gauge our members’ situations and concerns. Then we may be in a better place to plan virtual member chats (or something else) and address members’ needs and achieve our section’s goals.
Laura will create a document to draft questions / polls for Twitter. Some possibilities: are you curbside only, are you closed / open? Do you feel safe? Also, look into making sure poll answers and any identifying information will only be visible to PLASC social media managers in order to encourage full disclosure of concerns.
