Approve February 12, 2020 meeting minutes

Updates

Chair, Angela Stanley: Submitted SAA Annual Section Meeting application (working doc); Emailed briefly with Jo and Heather re: Chicago-area PL speakers and Happy Hour Subcommittee

Newsletter, Patricia Delara: will do a new call for submissions on stories of how public libraries/archives have changed their programs/moved to online formats. Will also include list of resources for members now working from home. Will extend call for submissions and should have the Spring newsletter come out by end of month, early May.

Social Media, Dylan Gaffney and Derek Mosley: updates have been intermittent, but will begin sharing out more frequently. Angela requested sending institutional updates, online resources, project updates, etc. to Dylan and Derek for promotion.

Website, Johanna Russ: Will post meeting minutes from February; can post additional resources for archivists working from home, COVID-19 resources, etc.

Survey Working Group, Catherine Oseas & Heather Lanctot (draft survey): Look at survey from different institutional and personal perspectives: add / suggest edits based on our own positions/circumstances/etc. by May 13, 2020.

Section Meeting format - Jo has spoken with a colleague from one of CPL’s three archival collections, and will also reach out to the CPL Foundation’s grants administrator. Meeting format is open for discussion: traditional slide presentations, panel discussion, etc. Will prepare for the possibility of both an in-person or virtual presentation.

PLASC Happy Hour-TBD

New Business

2021 Chair position is open-Derek has been elected to SAA Council and will not be able to continue as incoming PLASC Chair. Angela is able to extend her term, but invites any interested steering committee member to please consider running.

Elections-Patricia will run for Vice-Chair! Yay Patricia! Angela will email complete list of open positions with the group; email her with interest.

Plans for possible online section meeting if SAA is canceled / virtual

Share online resources, blogs, etc. from our institutions w/ Derek, Dylan and Patricia for sharing via our social media and the newsletter

Think about running for an elected PLASC position! Names due by June 1. Angela will email open positions.
