Section meeting: The tentative meeting time for the section meeting in Portland is okay with everyone.
50 words or less blurb for the program due February 28th: Lori will write something that captures our conversation today.
Spring newsletter: Call has gone out. Will add information about the section meeting to the newsletter.
Transition to unlimited section membership: The report from Council suggests that SAA members are now free to join as many sections as they would like.
*Jackie will send a message to the A&A listserv and write a post for the SNAP blog inviting new members to join
*We’ll send a welcome message out a few more times before SAA.
*We will make a special effort to welcome new members at the section meeting in Portland
*We’ll survey the new membership at some point in the future.
Handwriting project discussion: Explored the idea of having a collaborative brainstorming making session “collaboratory” during the section meeting at the annual meeting about creating resources to help researchers interpret handwriting.
Ideas and thoughts:
*We could invite someone from Duke who worked on their instructional tools to give a lightning talk,
*Request supplies for members to make their own tools customized for their repository
*Gather information in a brainstorming session for a tool that could be created by the section
*Put online templates in a Google drive, participants could put text in specific to the type of manuscript
*Organize into tables based on what is most applicable to your repository
*Get people thinking about the ways to present this information
*Provide a template on how to make your own resource, provide a little bit of structure, then participants can go into the template and edit
*Organize a session on handwriting at the TPS Unconference; drive people to our session; helps to have content distributed at different venues at SAA since so much is going on
involvement
*We aren’t sure yet what a template would look like. Can talk with people at Duke. How digital can we be? How physical/analog can we be? What kind of a template? Where are we getting it?
*We will all review the existing sources that people provided back in the fall to see if they can inform a template for us.
*Jackie will talk to Kelly Wooten at Duke about the process of creating their zine and invite her to participate in the section meeting.
