Jennifer Day, CA
Archivist, The City of Oklahoma City, Office of City Clerk
As Chair of the Local Government Records Roundtable I hope to generate more discussion and activity on the email forum, establish goals for the coming year to create a resource/education guide for preserving government records, and start a campaign to bring more LGRRT members to the SAA annual meeting. I appreciate your participation and support. A little about my professional background and current position:
I have been in the archival field since graduation from the Library and Information Studies program at the University of Oklahoma in 2005. At that time I began working for the Oklahoma Historical Society and in 2007 became head of the Manuscripts Division.
In December of 2012 I began my current position in the Office of the City Clerk in The City of Oklahoma City. Frances Kersey, the City Clerk, saw the need for records preservation and a centralized records facility. I am the first archivist to work for a municipality in the state of Oklahoma.
Currently I am working to establish an archival program for The City of Oklahoma City Clerk’s Office that can be expanded to include other departments in the future. I also maintain the records disposition schedule for The City of Oklahoma City and serve as an RIM consultant for city departments. I am currently managing a basic processing project funded by a grant from the National Historic Publications and Records Commission that will process and create finding aids for 1200 c.f. of records on permanent retention in the Office of the City Clerk.
