The following is the bio statement from the candidate for Junior Co-Chair, Natalie Baur.
"Natalie Baur joined the University of Miami Libraries as the Archivist for the Cuban Heritage Collection in 2012. In her role as archivist, Natalie coordinates processing and description of manuscript, audio visual, and oral history collections held at the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida. Natalie is enthusiastic about outreach and enjoys teaching introductory archival research sessions to undergraduates pursuing class and independent research in the Cuban Heritage Collection. In addition to working with students and researchers, she enjoys reaching out to donors and helping to collect, preserve and provide access to their stories and the histories of their communities.
Passionate about working with Latin American and Caribbean cultural heritage materials, Natalie never misses an opportunity to visit libraries, archives and museums and connect with her international peers when she travels in the region. Natalie earned a graduate degree in History and Museum Studies from the University of Delaware, and a Master of Library Science with a concentration in Archives, Records, and Information Management from the University of Maryland. Her professional and academic interests include description and preservation of cultural heritage materials, cataloging of archival and rare materials, and issues in digital preservation and the Digital Humanities.
Natalie's vision for LACCHA includes increasing the round table's visibility within SAA and to get the word out that Latin American and Caribbean cultural heritage archives are not just a subset of history, but a thread in the fabric that weaves the history of the United States and beyond."
The Junior Co-Chair serves a term of one year, after which they automatically become the Senior Co-Chair for the following year. Watch the LACCHA listserve for instructions on voting.
