MISSION OF THE ROUNDTABLE

The Roundtable of the Society of American Archivists provides a forum for archivists from all types of repositories to identify and discuss key issues relevant to the use and development of the Archivists' Toolkit™ (AT) and Archon software tools, as well as the future integrated tool ArchivesSpace for:

  • Recording archival description;
  • Managing the life cycle of archival collections in a broad spectrum of archival functions;
  • Promoting efficient processing and description, minimizing backlogs, and;
  • Facilitating access to archival collections through EAD finding aids, collection-level MARC records, and web publishing of descriptions and digital objects.

 

GOALS OF THE ROUNDTABLE

  • Organize and participate in activities that increase the utility and availability of the AT, ARCHON, and ArchivesSpace to the archival profession.
  • Identify and document the features and functions needed to manage archival collections and output products to support access, use, and preservation of archival materials.
  • Share knowledge and expertise among its members to achieve the ability to utilize the features and functions of all three tools to their full potential.
  • Facilitate collaboration between AT and Archon users and the ArchivesSpace development team
