Nominations Open for 2021-2022 Section Leadership Positions!

Make an impact on SAA’s Accessioning, Acquisitions, and Appraisal communities and nominate yourself (or recommend others) for a leadership position with SAA's Acquisitions & Appraisal Section.

We are seeking individuals interested in acquisitions, appraisal, and accessioning for the following three positions:

• Vice Chair/Chair Elect
• Steering Committee At-Large Member (2 positions available)

This is a particularly exciting year for us as we consider how to incorporate accessioning into the focus of our section, and we encourage our archivist colleagues with that interest to join the section and get engaged.

Candidates must be members of SAA and this Section at the time of nomination. We encourage candidates of all experience levels and from various types of institutions. Consider nominating yourself or a colleague! Please email the Nominating Committee with your or your colleague's name, email address, and institution. Committee members are Christian Kelleher (cdkelleher@uh.edu), Meaghan O’Riordan (meaghan.oriordan@emory.edu), and Aaron Ramirez (aaron.ramirez@pueblolibrary.org).

We’ll follow up to get more information for nominations, including biographical information, a photograph (optional), and a candidate statement which will need to be sent to the Nominating Committee by May 28. Final ballot information will be sent to SAA by June 1, and elections will be held online later in June 2021.

Full details on the duties of Steering Committee members are outlined in the Section Standing Rules, but are summarized as follows:

Vice Chair/Chair Elect:

• The Vice Chair serves a one-year term (2020–2021), beginning at the conclusion of the annual Section meeting. The Vice Chair serves as acting Chair in the absence of the Chair; takes minutes at Section meetings; produces/oversees communications with the Section; organizes the program in conjunction with the Steering Committee for the annual Section meeting; and contributes occasionally to subcommittee work.
• At the conclusion of the 2021 annual Section meeting, the Vice Chair assumes the role of Chair for the following year (2021–2022), and subsequently as Immediate Past Chair (2022–2023).
• In each role, this person is expected to attend the SAA Annual Meeting and participate in Steering Committee conference calls (at least four per year).
• The time commitment for this role is estimated between two and four hours each month.

Steering Committee At-Large Members (2 positions):

• Members serve two-year terms (2020–2022), eligible for reelection to a second term.
• Members co-chair Section subcommittees (i.e., Best Practices and Outreach Subcommittees, as described on the Members' Welcome page), serve on the Nominating Committee, and assist in planning the annual Section meeting.
• Members are encouraged to attend the SAA Annual Meeting and expected to participate in Steering Committee conference calls (at least four per year).
• The time commitment for this role is estimated at about two hours each month.
