Enterprise content management (ECM) is the technologies, tools, and methods used to capture, manage, store, preserve and deliver content across an enterprise. At the most basic level, ECM tools and strategies allow the management of an organization's unstructured information, wherever that information exists. ECM is a process that takes your content throughout its lifecycle – from the creation of an idea scribbled on a sheet of paper to the management of the multiple working documents to flesh out that idea to the archival and ultimate disposition of the policy that had its genesis in that flash of inspiration.
