Advanced analysis of the basic theories, principles, techniques, and methods that archivists and records managers use for identifying and selecting (appraising) records with continuing or enduring value to records creators, researchers, and society. Comparison and contrast to related activities in other fields, such as library collection management and development, museum artifact selection, and the analysis of documentary evidence by historians and other researchers. Prerequisite LIS 2220.  Required for students admitted to the Archives and Information Science Specialization.
