SAA Foundation Launches Successful Pilot Opportunity Grant Program

April 15, 2025—The Society of American Archivists (SAA) Foundation is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its pilot Opportunity Grant Program. This initiative, which ran from January 2025 to March 12, 2025, was designed to provide funding for unexpected and time-sensitive opportunities in the archival and records management fields. Due to high demand, the program closed early as funds were exhausted.

2025 Opportunity Grant Recipients:

Greenlawn-Centerport Historical Association (GCHA)

Project: “UV Projection for GCHA's Main Office Display Case”

This project will enable the GCHA to display historical artifacts in their main office display case with adequate protection from UV exposure, providing timely access to valuable archival materials while ensuring their long-term preservation.

La Raza Historical Society of Santa Clara Valley (LRHS)

Project: “R. Diaz Photo Collection”

This grant will allow LRHS to accept a second donation of historical photos from the R. Diaz family. Specifically, the grant will support the purchase of sleeves and boxes needed to safely and securely store these newly acquired materials.

Biddeford Cultural and Heritage Center

Project: “Capturing Moments: The Digital Revival of School Sports Heritage”

This project will enable the Center to digitize several important audio recordings stored on magnetic tape for long-term preservation and access.
